A 40ft used certified flat rack shipping container — also called a 40-foot flat rack or open-frame cargo platform — is a pre-owned steel unit you own outright designed for transporting oversized cargo that will not fit in standard enclosed containers. With collapsible or fixed end walls and no side panels or roof, it handles heavy machinery, vehicles, pipe, lumber, and bulk materials.
Why flat rack over standard container? Built from high-strength Corten steel and rated for stacking, each unit offers exceptional durability and loading flexibility from above or the sides. Commonly used in marine shipping, rail transport, and industrial staging where cargo dimensions exceed standard container limits.
All used units are cargo-worthy and inspected for structural reliability. Cosmetic wear such as surface rust, dents, and paint fading may be present without affecting load capacity or certification. We offer two types of trucks for container delivery:
Tilt-Bed Truck (recommended if no unloading equipment is available):
The truck will back into position, tilt the bed, and slide the container off onto the ground.
Requirements: 125 ft of straight clearance, 12 ft width, and 16 ft vertical clearance.
Flatbed Truck (if you have a forklift or crane on-site):
A forklift (minimum 15,000 lb capacity) or crane is required to unload the container.

Site Preparation
Before scheduling delivery, please ensure:
Containers are placed directly onto flat, level surfaces. No foundation is required for ground storage.
Delivery Timing
Delivery is typically completed within 1–3 business days after your container is ready for dispatch.
